2024 Hidden Gems: 7 Underpriced SWSH & SM Black Star Promos Poised for 300%+ Growth Before Q4 (Graded PSA 9/10 Analysis)

Why Promos Are Primed for a Pump
Let's be real, the market has been a roller coaster, but promos, especially Black Star Promos, often ride a different wave. They're typically released in limited quantities, tied to specific events, products, or retail campaigns, making their initial distribution much more constrained than main set cards. This creates inherent scarcity from day one. I've been tracking promo performance for years (you can read more about how SWSH promos are outperforming Scarlet & Violet). The grading boom of the last few years spotlighted a lot of these, but many still haven't truly hit their stride, especially those that aren't Charizard or Pikachu. We're looking for that sweet spot of low PSA 10 population, popular Pokémon, and appealing artwork.Eevee V (SWSH Black Star Promos)
Talk about a sleeper! This Eevee V, card swshp-SWSH065, is absolutely gorgeous. Eevee and its evolutions are perennial favorites, and this full-art V promo from the SWSH era captures it perfectly. It was part of the Eevee VMAX Premium Collection, and while that was a popular product, getting a perfectly centered, clean PSA 10 copy is proving harder than you'd think.
Its PSA 10 value is currently at $9999.00 – a phenomenal price for a relatively modern promo. I actually submitted a few of these last quarter, and both had minor print lines that knocked them out of 10 contention. The market clearly recognizes the allure here; it’s a beautiful card that ticks all the boxes for Eevee collectors. I expect this to keep climbing.

Zoroark-GX (SM Black Star Promos)
Now, this Zoroark-GX, smp-SM84, is an interesting one. It was a GameStop promo, which always adds a layer of scarcity. Distribution through specific retailers often means less overall supply compared to general release promos. Zoroark is a popular Pokémon too, a fan favorite from the Unova region.
Currently sitting at a PSA 10 value of $9999.00, it's already showing its strength. What I’ve noticed with these SM promos is that their print quality can be a bit inconsistent compared to SWSH, making high grades genuinely tough. I'd argue this is a fantastic pickup at current prices.

Iron Leaves ex (Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos)
Okay, so this Iron Leaves ex, card svp-128, is a newer kid on the block, a Scarlet & Violet promo. But hear me out: the future paradox forms are really resonating with collectors. Iron Leaves is a visually striking card, and it’s an ex promo, giving it that extra pop.
Its PSA 10 value is also at $9999.00. While it's relatively new, the immediate demand for high-grade copies is evident. I've found grading these newer full-art promos to be a bit easier in terms of centering, but surface quality can still be a pain. I think this one has massive potential as more collectors jump on the S&V generation.

Reshiram & Charizard-GX (SM Black Star Promos)
Charizard, baby! You know I couldn’t do a list without including a Zard. This Reshiram & Charizard-GX, smp-SM201, is an absolute masterpiece and was a part of the Tag Team Generations Premium Collection. Tag Team GX cards are incredibly popular, and when you add Charizard *and* a beautiful full-art illustration, you’ve got a winner.
Its PSA 10 value is currently $9999.00. This is one of those cards where I've seen prices at local card shows consistently climb. The holo pattern on these can sometimes be a little inconsistent, which makes finding that perfect PSA 10 even more special. This card is a no-brainer for long-term growth.

Tornadus-GX (SM Black Star Promos)
Okay, maybe not as flashy as a Charizard, but this Tornadus-GX, card smp-SM134, is seriously underrated. It was another Pokémon TCG GameStop promo from the SM era. Legendary Pokémon promos always have a strong following, and the dynamic artwork on this one is fantastic.
With a PSA 10 value of $9999.00, it's clear the market has started to catch on, but I still think it has plenty of room to run. I've picked these up relatively cheaply in the past at bigger conventions, and the centering tends to be quite good on them, which is a huge plus for grading.

A Word on Grading Strategy
Look, finding these cards is only half the battle; getting that coveted PSA 9 or 10 is where the real value is unlocked. I've been sending cards to PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator) for years, and here's what I've learned about promos: Always check for centering first. Promos, especially older ones, can be notoriously off-center due to production variations. Next, look for surface scratches or print lines, which can be hard to spot without good lighting. Finally, examine the edges for any whitening, even slight flecks can drop a grade. It’s a meticulous process, but it pays off. Before you send, know your card's weaknesses. Don't waste money grading a card that's clearly not a 9 or 10. Investing in Pokémon TCG is never a get-rich-quick scheme. Card values fluctuate – always do your own research before making purchase decisions. Not every card will appreciate, and grading isn't guaranteed. But based on current market trends, low population reports (especially for PSA 10s), and the inherent desirability of these Pokémon, these specific SWSH and SM Black Star Promos are poised for significant gains. If any of these cards caught your eye, check current prices on Amazon — they often have both raw and graded options available. Keep an eye on our card database for real-time price updates.
